Tate is the poster child of the fatherless generation. He represents the unrealistic ideal formed by superheroes and celebrities on account of not growing up with a real father. The distrust of authority which comes, again, from not having a father. The resentment towards women from having a single parent mother who was likely stretched thin and unable to provide adequate love and affection on account of playing both parental roles. And the narcissism that comes from the fear of abandonment, needing constant validation and learning to manipulate others because they feel unworthy of love. It is a pathway out of depression though, but once some success and validation is achieved, the ultimate answer to the emptiness inside is to be the father you never had and not perpetuate the disfunction on to the next generation.
