This one was requested by @jamiemckay5000 after a previous upload, and it's a great opportunity to revisit a classic summer for sci fi cinema.

John Carpenter's The Thing was released by the recently-formed UIP on August 26th 1982. You could see it in 70mm at the Plaza in London or (more likely) at one of the many ABC cinemas around the country. This was one of the last 'X' films to be released in the UK - the BBFC's new ratings system would arrive a couple of months later, meaning that Poltergeist (the trailer of which is included here) would be re-rated from 'X' to '15' for its own release.
