Since last year, Marko Tiitus has been a bishop responsible not only for theology, liturgy, church education and spiritual care in South Estonia, but also a member of the Presidium of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE).

Born in the Estonian capital Tallinn in 1971, the clergyman and intellectual has found his passion not only in his episcopate, community service, media work and lecturing roles, but above all in church music.
Since his youth, the 54-year-old father of five daughters has been involved in church music in various capacities and in different ways, most recently as chairman of a songbook commission.

In the video, he tells us how Protestantism, which was suppressed in the former Soviet satellite state for over five decades, has been able to flourish in freedom and independence following the fall of the Iron Curtain, what impact faith still has in a largely secular society today and where the main challenges lie for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Estonia in the balancing act between detachment, defence and deterrence against Russian aggression from the perspective of Estonian politics, military and society, as well as the message of Christian Charity in the pursuit of peace, reconciliation and forgiveness during and after wartimes.
