The entire project spans approximately 367 kilometers and involves constructing a 4-6 lane access-controlled expressway. Developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the STRR is being executed in multiple phases with an estimated cost of around Rs. 17,000 crore.

Length & Scope: About 280 km of the ring road is partly operational and under construction, connecting important satellite towns such as Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Nelamangala, Hoskote, Kanakapura, Ramanagara, Magadi, and Anekal.

Objectives: It aims to reduce congestion within Bangalore city, improve freight and logistics movement, and promote balanced urban growth around Bangalore.

Current Status: As of now, the project is partly operational with sections inaugurated, and other segments are under active construction. The full project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Recent Developments: Tenders for multiple packages were called in September 2025, with the bidding process finalized in October 2025. Construction of different segments is underway, involving various contractors, with phase-wise completion within the scheduled timeline.

This project not only aims to ease Bengaluru’s traffic and improve regional connectivity but also sets the stage for urban decentralization and economic growth in the satellite towns surrounding Bengaluru.
