Описание к видео Bedouin Culture Series EP 8: Traditional Cuisine in Dubai

As you can imagine it was sometimes very challenging for Bedouin to survive in the desert. The desert can be quite scare with limited resources and Bedouin survived on very little food. Bedouin could go for months, subsisting on nothing but dates, animal milk and water.

Livestock like goats and sheep were the major protein in their diets however this was only reserved for special occasions and celebrations. Bedouin relied on trading to get other food sources like bags of wheat, rice, barely, salt, coffee and tea.

Some popular dinner dishes include Tanoor which is spiced lamb served with rice and ghee and Thareed which is chicken with stewed vegetables, mixed Arabic spices and ragag bread. Bedouin traditionally ate these meals in big groups with their hands sitting on the ground of traditional majlis.
