“If you work hard, you will become successful, and once you become successful, then you’ll be happy" I think this is what we have been told since 1st grade!  This is what most still believe in today.  Nothing New believes its actually reversed . Happiness actually comes before success! By having happiness it actually helps fuel performance in all areas of your life therefore leading to success. I feel that to many of us just try and get by day after day, month after month.   We just are living content.  Not saying that being content is necessarily bad.  Living content can actually be a good thing sometimes because that means you are living in a stable condition.  This is actually hard to live by as well. How hard is it to have everything just right?!  Pretty darn hard.  BUT, I do think that people do want more feeling in their lives.  I think most of us crave happiness. As a human, we are driven by feelings and in order to create feelings things do need to change.  Positive change is what we are after. Could you tell me what the definition of happiness is? There is no single correct definition.  maybe its a state of mind, maybe its a feeling of well-being, maybe its the experience of positive emotions, maybe its pleasure.   Point being is that happiness is different for everyone!  You in the end are the judge. Martin Seligman, one of the pioneers of positive psychology has broken it down into 3 measurable components; 1.  Pleasure 2.  Engagement 3.  Meaning The trick is to pursue all 3 and not just one or two.  If you can pursue all 3 he says this is how you can live the fullest life possible. Happiness will cause achievement and success What happens to the brain when filled with happiness? Research shows that happiness actually causes your brain to function differently. When we think positively our brain actually broadens the amount of ideas and possibilities  that we can process.  Therefore making us more creative, open-minded, thoughtful, and willing to listen to new ideas. Literally thinking positively opens up our learning centers of the brain.  It helps us learn quicker, remember info. longer, retrieve info. quicker. Positive emotions can actually help us see more!  How big of a lift in the workplace if you can see more than others right?  It allows you to think differently, and see things others can’t, help see solutions and spot opportunities. There is a reason why big, super successful companies like google have bring your dog to work day, everyday.  Google is cultivating this type of positive, happy, feel-good environment to help get their employees to have the best ideas possible.
