Описание к видео The steely gaze of a goshawk | Yorkshire Species Spotlight

Goshawks are agile and powerful birds of prey. Our trail cameras have captured amazing footage of stunning goshawks in their natural environment. In this video we share some of our favourite footage, along with some key goshawk facts.

The northern goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), is a medium to large-sized bird of prey renowned for its piercing gaze and remarkably nimble flight. These raptors typically inhabit forested areas where they build their nests, and can be identified by their unique cackling vocalisation, which is most commonly heard during their impressive courtship displays in the spring. Goshawks primarily feed on birds, with wood pigeons and corvids being among their preferred prey in the UK.

For the past 5 years we’ve been monitoring wildlife with camera traps in the North York Moors National Park. During this time we’ve gathered footage of 62 different species, including rare pine martens, powerful birds of prey and magnificent red deer stags. With the help of our volunteers, we’ve created thousands of ecological records. In this video series we share some of our favourite trail camera footage from the North York Moors. This episode is all about goshawks! Learn more here: https://naturespy.org/goshawks-yorksh...
