Dating all the way back to 2.3 – 1.2 million years ago, Paranthropus boiseiis a species whose timeline overlaps with more than 3 other species. Fossils related to the species have been found in so many sites and showed that their skulls had the most pronounced masticatory adaptations.The first skull of Paranthropus boisei foundwas said to be 1.75 million years old and was discovered in 1959 at Olduvai by the anthropologist Dr Mary Leakey and was nicknamed the “Nutcracker Man,” for its big teeth and strong chewing muscles. First fossils were discovered in 1955 which includedtwo upper milk teeth, a very large molar, and a tiny canineat Olduvai Gorge, in Tanzania.But it was not until 1959 that the mystery of the owner of the unusual teeth was solvedwhen the skull was discovered that they knew a new species had been discovered. These fossils were assigned to a new genus and speciesnamedZinjanthropus boisei, or “human from East Africa.” “Zinj” being a derivation of the archaic term “Zanj” for an area of the East African coast, and Boise was the surname of one of Leakeys’ financial supporters
