How Anantjeet Singh Naruka overcame hurt of lost medal in Paris to seal Asian C'ships historic gold

Anantjeet Singh Naruka won India’s first senior gold medal at the ongoing Asian Shooting Championship 2025 as he bagged the men’s skeet crown in Shymkent. Anantjeet Singh Naruka scored 57 off a possible 60 in a tense final to finish above Mansour Al-Rashidi of Kuwait, a former Asian Games champion, who managed one less. The bronze medal went to Qatari shooter Ali Ahmed Al-Ishaq, who shot 43. This was also Naruka’s first-ever individual gold medal at the Asian Championships. The shotgun shooter, who represented India at the Paris 2024 Olympics, was forced to settle for the silver at the last edition in Kuwait in 2024. Interestingly, Naruka had missed out by the same 57-56 scoreline to Chinese Taipei’s Lee Meng-yuan last time out. Naruka was also the only Indian to qualify for the individual final after finishing second in the preliminary round with a score of 119.
