"UN ISHTAM EN ISHTAME" is a phrase written by Bhagavan Ramana in one of his Tamizh Hymns, sowed the seed for me to write this philosophical song.

To start a song with Bhagawan's phrase itself gives me much hope and faith that the light is there at the end of the tunnel.

This song occurred to me all of a sudden as a blessing when I was slowly riding my bike in the Girivalam Path at Tiruvannamalai. While finishing the Girivalam, the song magically got completed on its own. On reaching home, got the song recorded at once.

I hope and pray that this song encourages us to contemplate about the purpose of life and take all of us atleast one step forward towards the ultimate truth.

பற்றி வாழ முடியுமோ? பின்பற்றி வாழ முடியுமோ?

அனுபல்லவி
பொன்னிஷ்டம் பூவையரிஷ்டம் மண்ணிலே
புகழோடு வாழ இஷ்டம்
தன்னிச்சையாய் ஒரு நஷ்டம் வந்தாலும் விலக விரும்பா துஷ்டத்தனம் அந்தோ...(உன்)

கட்டுக்கடங்கா மனமே
உனக்கென்று வரும் சுகமே? பணம் கட்டுக்கட்டாக பார்த்தால் உந்தன் புத்தி கெட்டுவிடுமே... கொட்டிக்கிடக்கும்-ஆன்ம ரத்தினங்கள் பற்றாது
நீ சலித்தாய்...
ஒட்டிகொண்ட பின்பு முட்டிமோதி குட்டிக்கரணம் போட்டாலாகுமோ?

உத்தமமான வாழ்வு

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

"Your Will is my wish" -
grasping well the import of this  phrase, sung by  Ramana Bhagavan,
can we adhere to it?
can we live by it ?

The Desire for Wealth, Woman, and fame -
When adversity strikes unannounced,
Will the evil mind renounce?

Oh unrestrained mind,
when will you attain contentment?   -
Rolls of banknotes make you corrupt.
Disregarding  the gems in the treasure-trove of self-knowledge you remain exasperated- Gems in the Path of Ramana


In the grip of vices  fourfold - desire, fear, delusion and ego , you (the mind ) caper like a monkey, shirking  responsibilities. To what end?

A Noble Life is to know the Self;
Yearning to bow to  the Will of the Supreme,
Faith dawns and beholding Arunacahala the heart exults
The Liberating Path of self-knowledge of Guru Ramana now Reigns Supreme
