This Is Northfield - Creative Residency Programme
This residency is part of This is Northfield, an Aberdeen City Council programme which will deliver four artists’ residencies with Northfield Academy in 2023 & 2024. Working with artists on projects themed around Creative Northfield, Resilient Northfield, Health and Wellbeing and What’s Your Treasure?, the programme is engaging with pupils, teachers and the wider school community to explore, discuss and celebrate the school and its community. This is Northfield is being delivered by the Council’s Creative Learning team, together with a number of partners, including staff from the Archives, Gallery & Museums team who are responsible for the Treasure Hub.

What’s Your Treasure? invites Northfield pupils to offer new perspectives on artworks and objects in the city’s art gallery and museum collection. Working towards an exhibition at Aberdeen Treasure Hub to coincide with an open day in June, the artist will work with the project team at Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums and the Expressive Art Department at Northfield Academy to deliver a range of creative activities that will explore what a ‘collection’ is, why museums exist, what we consider a ‘treasure’ and why local stories and histories are important. Including visits to explore exhibitions and displays at Aberdeen Art Gallery and trips to see behind the scenes at the museum store.
