Upgraded CAJOE Geiger Counter Kit - MH Tiny and 1602 LCD Display

Описание к видео Upgraded CAJOE Geiger Counter Kit - MH Tiny and 1602 LCD Display

Here we are using an MH Tiny (MH-ET LIVE Tiny88, ATtiny88) to display the currently detected level of radiation using a 1602A LCD display. The MH Tiny shows the detected number of clicks per minute (CPM) and the estimated micro Sieverts per hour (uSv/h).

This addition makes the device functionally similar to the upgraded kit available here: http://www.geiger-counter.com/sys-pd/...

The display also shows "Safety" when the detected radiation level is below the hourly equivalent of 5,000 millirems (50,000 uSv) per year (equivalent to 5.7 uSv/h) which is the recognised safety limit for radiation workers in the US*. The display reports "Danger" above this level.

To demonstrate the ability to detect radiation, a radioactive sample is placed near the counter which demonstrates and increase in the reported radiation level. The sample is then removed from the container to demonstrate the significantly higher level of radiation and the attenuating effect of the container.

* For the purposes of the 5,000 millirem annual limit for US radiation workers, the relevant exposure is calculated cumulatively over the year. Radiation workers may be exposed to higher levels for short periods, followed by periods with little exposure, and remain below the safety threshold. Short periods at higher levels (such as demonstrated in this video) are unlikely to pose significant increased risk or "Danger".
