Training Mules (Part 2 - Developing the Stop & the Neck Rein)

Описание к видео Training Mules (Part 2 - Developing the Stop & the Neck Rein)

This is the second session in my Mule Training series. In this episode, we'll talk about developing a better stop and teaching the neck rein.

Developing a Stop:
1. Soften the nose
2. Take your legs off and shift your seat to cue for a stop
3. If he doesn't stop, immediately back up
4. Enforce with your reins and legs, releasing when he backs softly
5. Turn over the hindquarters and walk off

Introducing the Neck Rein:
1. Take the reins in one hand
2. Move in a figure-8 pattern. Place the rein on his neck to cue the turn, using your pinky to slightly direct rein the turn
3. Use your legs and an enforcer to get the turn - make sure he follows his nose
4. When he gets good at a walk, move up to a trot

I hope you enjoyed this series, and I hope it helps improve your relationship with your mule. Until next time, may God bless the trails you ride!
