Canton of Bern
It is one of the 26 cantons forming the Swiss Confederation. It is composed of ten districts and its capital city is Bern. The bear is the heraldic symbol of the canton, displayed on a red-yellow background. Bern is the second-largest canton by both surface area and population. Located in west-central Switzerland, it is surrounded by eleven cantons. It borders the canton of Jura and the canton of Solothurn to the north. To the west lie the canton of Neuchâtel, the canton of Fribourg and canton of Vaud. To the south lies the canton of Valais. East of the canton of Bern lie the cantons of Uri, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Lucerne and Aargau.

The canton of Fribourg, also canton of Freiburg is located in western Switzerland. The canton is bilingual, with French spoken by two thirds of the citizens and German by about one third. Both are official languages in the canton. The canton takes its name from its capital city of Fribourg.

Jaun
It (French: Bellegarde) is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is the only German-speaking municipality in Gruyère.

Jaun Pass
(German: Jaunpass, French: col de Bellegarde) is a high mountain pass (el. 1509 m.) in the Swiss Alps linking Charmey and Jaun in the canton of Fribourg with Reidenbach (part of the municipality of Boltigen) in the canton of Bern. The pass itself is located within the canton of Berne. The pass road was completed in 1878. The Jaunpass connects the Gruyère region in Fribourg with the Simmental in the Bernese Oberland. It is located between the towns of Broc and Reidenbach (municipality of Boltigen) and leads through Jaun, the only German-speaking municipality in the Gruyère region. The top of the pass is at 1509 m in the municipality of Boltigen.

Charmey
It is a former municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014 the former municipalities of Charmey and Cerniat merged into the new municipality of Val-de-Charmey.

They are municipalities in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Villarbeney
It was until December 31, 2005 a political municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The merger with Botterens to form the new municipality of Botterens took effect on January 1, 2006.

Villarvolard
It is a former municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2011 it was merged with the municipality of Corbières.

Corbières
It is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2011 the former municipality of Villarvolard merged into the municipality of Corbières.

Hauteville / La Roche
They are municipalities within the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Le Mouret
It is a municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It was created on January 1, 2003 from the union of the former municipalities of Bonnefontaine, Essert, Montévraz, Oberried, Praroman, and Zénauva.

Marly
It is a municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Its German name is Mertenlach, but this is no longer common, although still in regional use. It was formed through the 1970 merger of Marly-le-Grand and Marly-le-Petit and the 1976 addition of the former municipality of Chésalles.
