Thousand Oaks is a wonderful place to live, workand play. Its lush, tall oaks cover every part of the city. Hearing the birds and the wind pass thru the thousands of trees give residence a relaxed feeling. This is the place where you can be in at peace surrounded by nature, and at the same time, just an hour drive from one of the world’s biggest cities!

The City of Thousand Oaks is located 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean, 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles and 55 miles from Santa Barbara.

Thousand Oaks also has one of California Lutherans University main campus. Founded in 1959, California Lutheran University is home to more than 2,804 undergraduate and 1,223 graduate students who come from more than 49 countries and represent a wide variety of faiths. Cal Lutheran University students are a great contribution to the thousand oaks community. The university often sponsors music, art, distinguished speakers, theater and dance to the community.

Thousand Oaks has about 150 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails that provide recreational opportunities for all.

The Civic Arts Plaza is the realization of a 20-year dream by Thousand Oaks citizens to provide a facility to house quality cultural activities. To date, over three million people have patronized the Civic Arts Plaza since its successful October 1994 grand opening.

The civic center tours Broadway musicals, popular entertainers, award-winning children’s programs, international ballet, folk and modern dance companies, classical symphonic performances, chamber music, choral ensembles, civic light opera, comedy, distinguished speakers, films, magic, jazz, big band orchestras, and live theatre and community programs.
