Meadville, Pennsylvania

Описание к видео Meadville, Pennsylvania

Meadville is a city in the county seat of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1788 along the banks of French Creek in Northwestern Pennsylvania. The French Creek was named by George Washington in the early 1750's. Crawford County was formed March 12, 1800 from Allegheny County. Meadville was the first permanent settlement in Northwest Pennsylvania, in 1788. Meadville's historic district includes many great historic buildings. Which include the Market House and the Baldwin-Reynolds House. Meadville is also the home of Allegheny College. In 2015, the Crawford County Historical Society purchased the Tarr Mansion to save it from demolition. (I'm so glad they did, it's a beautiful Italianate building.) The building was designed by Francis Marion Ellis. The Tarr family were one of the county's first oil barons.
