Mt. Osceola and Mt. East Osceola via Tripoli Road in Winter

Winter hiking! Join us as we hike Osceola and East Osceola in November. We were able to ascend Osceola via Tripoli Road as it had not closed yet (11/23/24). It is roughly 3 miles up to Osceola, a mile over to East, a mile back and 3 down. There are few views at all on East; you catch them on your way over or after you come up from the infamous chimney. As you will see in the video, it was dry almost half way up and spikes were necessary about 0.5 miles from the summit of Osceola. We kept them on until we hit dry land on the descent on Osceola.

For gear: winter hiking can be very dangerous if not properly equipped to sweat and stay warm. We brought the following in our packs: a full change of clothes (sports bra, tank top, wool base layer, socks, leggings), a down puffer, a shell, a wool hat, a 2nd pair of gloves (I used my heated ski gloves), hand and foot warmers, spikes, Garmin In-Reach, First Aid Kit, Pack-A-Paw (for dog carrying), a bivvy sack, water, and extra food.
