Advocating for Equity in Digital Learning Environments

Описание к видео Advocating for Equity in Digital Learning Environments

As education leaders continue to navigate the challenge of providing high-quality instruction in a digital environment, our nation’s most vulnerable students are at particular risk. Many students who faced barriers to learning in a brick-and-mortar setting now face additional challenges, including a lack of internet access and parents and caregivers who are not able to work from home and offer support. As schools look to the fall and prepare for continued distance learning, district leaders must pay attention to the risk of widening equity gaps for students of color, students from low-income backgrounds, English learners, students with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups such as homeless students and students in foster care.

Join John B. King Jr., president and CEO of the Education Trust, Robert Runcie, superintendent of Broward County (Fla.) Public Schools, and Karen Cator, CEO of Digital Promise, as they share ideas for how equity advocates and district leaders can support all students, families, and teachers. Their conversation will cover topics including access to technology, supporting social and emotional wellbeing, engaging students with disabilities, communication with families, assessing student progress, and more.
