The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, responsible for defending national airspace, providing air support to ground and naval forces, and conducting surveillance, transport, and humanitarian missions. It was established in 1964 and has since become one of the most active air forces in Africa. Headquartered in Abuja, the NAF operates from several major bases, including Makurdi, Kaduna, Kainji, and Lagos. Its fleet includes JF-17 Thunder fighters, Alpha Jet light attack aircraft, A-29 Super Tucano, Mi-35 attack helicopters, transport aircraft, and UAVs.

The Nigerian Air Force plays a crucial role in counterinsurgency operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP, border security, and disaster relief, while continuing efforts to modernize and expand its capabilities through new aircraft acquisitions and pilot training programs.
