Really quick video of our long layover in Istanbul, Turkey. We got this free tour through a company called Touristanbul which is complementary if you book Turkish Airlines and have a long layover. Istanbul is a very historic city with so much to offer and you can't possible see all of it in one day, much less 11 hours, however when you have a long layover sometimes it's nice just to stretch your legs and see somewhere new! Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics. Some of the main attractions to see in Istanbul is the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar and more!
