The irony of precautions that humans have created is that they're now an inconvenience to other humans and this is what they think of it. the CIty would be better off just getting rid of this crossing altogether. Redirect the north side of Wauhatchie Pike over to that new truck dealer north of the Chattanooga Sub, redo the Birmingham Highway underpass and have the southern half of the Pike end at the Wauhatchie Yard access points.
So the current layout of Wauhatchie Pike is that it crosses the NS AGS North Subdivision and CSX Chattanooga Sub which had restored the main line back to two tracks. The Norfolk Southern Side has WCH Light frames, GE Uniform LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and a GS Type 1 E Bell. The NS signal used to have WCH incandescent lights which is rare for Norfolk Southern.
The CSX Side has a new signal since the old one would have been too close to the restored track. That signal has a WCH Flatback Light Frames, Leotek LEDs, a Siemens gate mechanism, NEG gate lights, and an NEG E Bell.
The gate lights on the NS all flash and at the same time which is another quirk of this crossing.
