On February 5, 2024, between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, RV College of Nursing, Red Ribbon Club, and the Bangalore Chapter of the Indian Cancer Society (Regd) observed World Cancer Day. The aim was to raise awareness and educate the public about cancer prevention and early detection.

The day commenced with a rally that included students of RV College of Nursing at Maya's Junction in Jayanagar IV Block, Bengaluru. As a part of the rally, students carried placards and distributed pamphlets containing information on cancer and its prevention.

Following the rally, a mime was performed by first-semester students of the Basic BSc Nursing program, focusing on the early detection of breast cancer and management strategies. Mr. Chethan Kumar M.R., Associate Professor from the Department of Community Health Nursing, welcomed the participants and attendees.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Kamat, a Management Committee member, Mrs. Chandrakala, Accounts and Admin Head, and Jveria Fathima, Program Coordinator of the Indian Cancer Society, Bangalore Chapter.

Approximately 100 students participated in the event, and over 100 people gathered to witness the mime, showing support for cancer awareness. Afterwards, Dr. Balaji M.S., Associate Professor from the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, expressed gratitude on behalf of the organisers.

The event was well-received by the public, and the students and organisers were provided with refreshments as a token of appreciation. The successful event contributed to raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
