Our boat is a Shannon 50 Ketch (57 feet from tip of bowsprit to stern). We bought her in 1999 and completely redid her – a new mast, electrical, plumbing, engine, and sails- and we sailed around the Pacific for six years. Then, in 2019, we started a second major refit. New standing rigging, pulled our masts and repainted them, new electronics, new batteries (lithium) and charging system, new radar (AIS), new solar panels, new refrigeration/freezer system with a rebuilt box with new high-tech insulation, new sails, new generator, rebuilds on our autopilot and water maker. Then, we bought a new rib, outboard, and a mountain of spare parts. NOW – we are out here living the dream.
