Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to slow down the transmission of COVID-19 in the state, night curfew will be imposed in Kerala from August 30 onwards. The curfew will be in effect from 10 pm to 6 am. Lockdown will be implemented in places where the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR) is above seven.
Only essential services will be allowed to function. Night journeys and unnecessary travelling will be strictly banned until further notice. There will be checkings on the road to enforce the curfew effectively. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the curfew-imposed restrictions.
However, the KSRTC buses will operate service and details of the bus timings will be available on the online booking site.
Meanwhile, there will be relaxation for essential services, and those travelling to hospital with patients and by-standers’ movement.
Other exemptions will be given to those working in the essential services category, goods movement, journeys related to the death of close relatives and those who start their long journey before 10 pm.

People will be allowed to travel to airport and railway station by showing booked tickets while all other travellers will require permission from nearest police station.
