Boutique Shopping Saturdays With Allured By Design: Episode 3 - T. Osborne and West London BTQ

EPISODE THREE: SEGMENT ONE
In the first segment of Episode 3, Host & Executive Producer, Tachic Hickman-Piazza, who is also the Founder & Principal Designer of Allured By Design®, a home & lifestyle multimedia brand, continues her shopping tour in her hometown of New Orleans. Episodes 1 & 2 allowed us to explore design boutiques on both sides of Lake Pontchartrain - the Northshore and Southshore. In the 3rd episode, we head into the heart of the Garden District in Uptown, New Orleans on the legendary commerce strip of Magazine Street.

We first learned about Magazine Street in Episode 1. In Episode 3, Tachic really takes it up a notch by visiting two unique shops that aren't interior design boutiques. However, each boutique specializes in a form of design that not only pairs extremely well with the world of interiors, but oftentimes influences interior design and vice versa.

Always one to allow her curiosity and thirst for knowledge to navigate her path, Tachic kicks off the episode by bringing us into the uber colorful realm of native New Orleanian and world famous artist, Terrance Osborne. The T. Osborne Gallery pulls you in immediately the moment one walks in the door. It is a complete sensory experience from the amazing smell of lavender, to the colors, sounds and textures used all throughout the gallery.

And, when I say color...I mean just that. NO ONE does color like Terrance Osborne!! And, if indeed you're afraid of color - a visit to his gallery will expand the mind and perspective on how to be more open to color. Tachic and Terrance discuss how artwork like design has the power to convey both energy and moods. In addition, they tour the gallery and discuss a few special art pieces along the way.

EPISODE THREE: SEGMENT TWO
In the second segment, Tachic makes her way through the Garden District, still on Magazine Street and takes us into the world of fashion. We visit Mariah Walton Bencik, a highly popular New Orleans Fashion Stylist and Owner of West London Boutique. Mariah has become known as the lady who styles the who's who of New Orleans. In addition, her own sense of style is as fabulous as she is. Her boutique has clothing that's fun, feminine, dramatic and playful. Tachic often refers to West London Boutique as the New Orleans closet of Carrie Bradshaw, as many of the pieces are reminiscent of Carrie's highly fashionable style.

Tachic believes it's not enough to just have a well dressed home, but one must also have a well dressed body. Together, Tachic and Mariah talk all things fashion and how the world of fashion goes hand in hand with design. Mariah shares with us the commonality of patterns and prints that exist between both fashion and interiors. We also discuss the international markets Mariah orders all of her West London Boutique pieces from.

But the best part of the sit-down chat takes the ladies into discussing their fashion icons and where they both draw fashion inspiration from. Tachic then reveals the names of some of her favorite and most inspiring fashion icons with the final person on the list being an endearing surprise. The segment closes with Mariah giving us a tour of West London Boutique and showing us some of the latest fabrics, patterns and fashion styles she's brought back from various international markets.
