Imagine the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth are 3 best friends floating in space. Usually, the Sun shines bright light on us. But sometimes, the Moon decides to play a prank. It moves right in the middle, between the Earth and the Sun.
When they line up perfectly like a sandwich (Sun - Moon - Earth), the Moon blocks the sunlight. For a few minutes, the sky turns dark in the middle of the day! It’s like the Moon is casting a giant shadow on us.

Now, let’s talk about the Moon. Have you ever seen the Moon turn a spooky red color? That is called a Lunar Eclipse!
This time, the Earth wants to be in the middle. The Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon.
Because the Earth is much bigger than the Moon, it blocks the sunlight from hitting the Moon. Instead of disappearing completely, the Moon glows a beautiful red or orange color, just like a sunset. Some people even call it a "Blood Moon."
Unlike the Solar Eclipse, you can look at the Lunar Eclipse with your own eyes. It is perfectly safe and super cool to watch!
