Описание к видео Snowy winter scene painting - Watercolor speedpaint tutorial

How to paint a snowy winter scene in watercolor. In this video, I am sharing how I created this painting of a snowy village. The paper is wet on both sides to keep everything quite soft.

Colors used: Burnt Umber, Indigo, Dioxazine Purple.

I use a variety of watercolor paint brands (Daniel Smith, Holbein, M.Graham, Nevskaya Palitra) but all of them are professional watercolors. I used to buy student-grade paints but now I stay away from them as they contain a lot of additives and little pigment. When painting, I had to apply so much paint just to get any pigment out of them. Professional paints seem to be more economical.

Paper: Arches 100% cotton 140lb cold press. You may use any brand you like but, most importantly, use 100% cotton.

Brushes: I use a variety of brushes by different brands: Silver Brush, Chinese calligraphy brushes from Blue Heron Art and Michael Solovyev, squirrel brushes by Roubleff, synthetic by Escoda, and a few other different brands. I think it is helpful to buy good quality brushes but most important is the time you spend with that brush.
