Western Diamondback rattlesnakes, known for their tones of gray with darker “diamond” shaped pattern along the back outlined in white or yellow, are among the most common snakes in Texas. They’re found in canyons, rocky cliffs and meadows across the state.
The Green vine snake is a mildly venomous arboreal colubrid snake native to Central America and northern South America. It is bright green dorsally, and yellowish-green ventrally and on the upper lip. There is a narrow yellowish-white stripe along each side of the belly and tail. The head is aerodynamically shaped and very pointy, and the mouth is very large and extends almost the whole length of the head. The tail is long and very delicate but mostly used to hold on while reaching for prey.
The Western rat snake is a large non-venomous snake found in central North America. Juveniles are strongly patterned with brown blotches on a gray background. Darkening occurs rapidly as they grow. Adults are glossy black above with white lips, chin, and throat. Sometimes traces of the "obsolete" juvenile pattern are still discernible in the skin between the scales, especially when stretched after a heavy meal.
The green tree python (Morelia viridis) is a species of snake in the family Pythonidae. The species is native to New Guinea, some islands in Indonesia, and the Cape York Peninsula in Australia. As its common name suggests, it is a bright green snake that can reach a total length (including tail) of 2 m (6.6 ft) and a weight of 1.6 kg (3.5 lb). Living generally in trees, the green tree python mainly hunts and eats small reptiles and mammals.
The Crotalinae, commonly known as pit vipers, or pit adders, are a subfamily of vipers found in Eurasia and the Americas. Like all other vipers, they are venomous. They are distinguished by the presence of a heat-sensing pit organ located between the eye and the nostril on both sides of the head. Currently, 23 genera and 155 species are recognized
The Bamboo pit viper is a venomous pit viper species found in the southern part of India. These snakes are usually bright green, rarely yellowish, greyish, or purplish-brown in color, with or without black, brown, or reddish spots. There is usually a light, white, yellow, or red streak along the outer row of scales. Their tail is frequently yellow or red at the end. The lower parts of the body are green, yellow, or whitish in color.
The Dice snake is a nonvenomous snake found in Eurasia. Its color may vary from greyish green to brownish or almost black, with dark spots on the back. The belly is sometimes vividly colored in yellow or orange, with black spots, very similar to dice, hence the name. Females of this species are bigger than males.
The rhinoceros ratsnake (Gonyosoma boulengeri), also commonly known as the rhinoceros snake, rhino rat snake, and Vietnamese longnose snake, is a species of nonvenomous ratsnake in the family Colubridae. The species is found from northern Vietnam to southern China. It has a prominent, distinctive, scaled protrusion on the front of its snout, which has led to its common naming after a rhinoceros.
The Indian cobra is large highly venomous snake and is a member of the "big four" species that inflict the most snakebites on humans in India. The Indian cobra is revered in Indian mythology and culture and is often seen with snake charmers.
The Cape cobra is a medium-sized, highly venomous snake found across southern Africa. It varies widely in coloration, from yellow through golden brown to dark brown and even black. In addition, individuals show a varying degree of black or pale stippling and blotches, and although color and marking are geographically related, they are also possible to observe virtually all color varieties at one location.
Philothamnus semivariegatus, commonly known as the spotted bush snake is a species of non-venomous colubrid snake, endemic to Africa.
The Corn snake is a North American species of rat snake. Their docile nature, reluctance to bite, moderate adult size, attractive pattern, and comparatively simple care make them commonly kept pet snakes.
