Heartwarming Reunion: Woman Meets Birth Mom at 30 After Discovering Adoption from Colombia at 19

At 19 years old I learned that I was adopted, multiracial, and Colombian, after being raised in a very prejudiced conservative Italian and Portuguese Immigrant Family.

At 26, I found two half-siblings on 23andMe and reunited in person a few years later.

At 30, I finally had the opportunity to go to Colombia and meet my birth mom and siblings in person for the first time after hiring a private investigator during C0vid in 2021 and finding my biological mother in just 3 days.

Like most adoption stories, my reunion with my birth family has been a complex journey full of love, loss, grief, and happiness. I hope that my story will continue to help other adoptees feel seen.

A special thank you to my suegra (mother-in-law) Zoe; Husband, Charles; mom, Paula; and the rest of my friends and family that were with me every step of the way.
