Two-step verification is a security feature that will secure your amazon seller central account from unauthenticated activity. In this video we will show you how you can enable two-step verification for your amazon seller account.

What is two-step verification:

Two-step verification is a security feature that requires two authentication steps to log in to an online account.

Step-1: Users provide a username and password

Step-2: Users provide additional verification

Entering a temporary code texted their phone
Created by an authenticator application

Two-step protects your seller account --

Even if an unauthorized user obtains your username and password
Security best practice: Enable 2SV wherever you can for example your online banking or your social media accounts

Amazon offers two types of two-factor authentication security systems -

You can either receive a text message containing a two-factor code.
You can use an authenticator app to generate two-factor codes for you.

How to enable 2SV:
To access advanced security settings -
Sign in to seller central
Click settings
Click login settings
Click edit
Click get started

For this method to be successful you need access to a phone that can receive text messages and SMS. Once you get up to the 2SV setup screen.

Set up text message as primary method:

Select text message SMS option
Select your country code
Enter your phone number
Click send code and you will be received a text message with a temporary passcode
Enter the passcode to the entered the code box of the setup page
Click verify code and continue, that’s it!

The text message is now the primary method of your 2SV. Next time when you need the temporary passcode to log in to your seller account it will be texted to at this phone number.

Setup Authenticator App as primary method:

Select the authenticator app option
First, you need to have an authenticator app download and install it, such as Google authenticator or Microsoft authenticator
Once you are ready, add a new account to the app by clicking the plus (+) sign
Select the option to scan the barcode hold your device over the keyword code on the 2SP registration screen
Authenticator app will automatically create a corresponding entry associated with your Amazon seller account (the password is valid for a certain amount of time)
Type the passcode you received from the authenticator app
Click verify code and continue, that’s it!

Add a backup method:

We strongly recommended a set up a backup method to make sure you always have access to your seller account.

If text messages are the primary method, options for backup method:
A different phone number that can receive text messages
A voice phone number, such as a landline
An authenticator application

If authenticator app is the primary method, options for backup method:
A phone number that can receive text messages
A voice number, such as a landline

Setup voice phone as backup:
Select voice call on the backup method page
Select country code and enter your phone number
Click call me now
You will receive a voice call from Amazon with your temporary passcode
Enter the passcode on the 2SV registration page
Click verify code and continue

Your backup method is now set to voice call!

There are few more things to know before 2SV is enabled on your account. If you are registered from your home computer or one you have used frequently you can check the box that doesn't require code on this device. Once you are ready to click it, turn on the verification process.

Congratulations! You have successfully enabled the two-step verification process.
