BnS Battlegrounds Basic Gearing Guide

Need a basic PvP Soulshield set, and a basic PvP Weapon

Complete Intro Quests (only requires participation, not wins)

Test Your Might Pwt 1 (Solo Arena and Tag) Gives Unrefined Galaxy and first 3 SS, 1K zen beans
Test Your Might Pt 2 (WWV abd Beluga) Gives piece 4 and 5, 60 galaxy frags, 3 smelting orbs, 1000 BP

Soulshields:

Use the 5-piece BG Soulshields you get for the quests. Use any other 3 set that gives you a useful bonus (6,7,8). Can be MSP, Raven, whatever. If all else fails, use SSM (good PvP stats). Then use 8 Artisinal Primers to fuse Piercing onto them. Don't worry about the rolls for now. This will help keep you alive.

Weapon. Your first goal should be Acendant 3, which is not too expensive to get after the recent 2/7 patch. Use Raven/DF/Rift weapon until you get it.

Throw away your Unrefined Galaxy weapon you get from Quest. Galaxy stage 1 now bought from BG merchant for 5 Naryu Silver. Buy them until you get 6 Gem sockets

Total Cost to get to Ascendant 3: 25 Elysian Crystals, 90 Sacred Crystals, 1 Ivory Beluga Orb, 96 Galaxy Fragments (we already have 60 from Quest), 66 Legendary Elements, 2 Empyrian Spirit Stones, 5 regular Transformation Stones, 31 Smelting Orbs (have 3 from the quest), and 20 Ascendanct Stones (Should have Piles from Daily Dashes)

Easy way to get Legenday Elements: Buy Orichalcum Weapon from weapon vendor in Khanda Vihar for 4 silver and some copper. Salvage for 3-4 Element Powder. Transmute Element Packages. Should cost you about 60 silver in Element powder per element, plus 25 Soulstone Crystals, 2.5 Gold for Element Transmute, and 10 more Gold to buy the legendary Element.

Do Daily BG Quests and Weekly BG Quests. Do only during Battle Frenzy (runs 8pm to Midnight EST most days). Even though you are not geared yet, you will run into a party that can carry you for now eventually. You only need 1 win for daily, 3 wins for weekly. Choose Galaxy Fragments and Smelting Orbs from these quests, and Use your BP you get from losses to buy the rest (Smelting orbs are fairly cheap at 750 BP each, and Galaxy Fragments are 250 BP). You will need 28 Smelting Orbs, and 36 Galaxy Fragments to get to your Ascendant Weapon, which (if you do no quests) will cost you 30,000 BP. This may seem like a lot, but if you play during Battle frenzy, you can do 6 matches an hour and earn (even with losses) at least 1,500 - 2,000 BP an hour. Thats at most 20 hours, or 2 hours a day over 10 days. Not really all that much in BnS terms. Smelting orbs also come up frequently in F10 specials, so if you have some HM coins saved up, it might be a good use for them.

This should be enough gear to not make you a total liability to your teams, which will help you improve your win rate and more efficiently farm those sweet, sweet Moonstones.
