Cyclone Ditva, which intensified from a deep depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, is currently moving in a North-Northwest direction. The cyclone is expected to approach the coasts of North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh by Sunday morning.

Movement: Although direct landfall is considered unlikely, Cyclone Ditva is expected to move parallel along the coast before gradually weakening.

IMD Warning: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange and Red Alert for several districts in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Impact: Coastal Andhra Pradesh and the Rayalaseema region are likely to witness heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, with isolated areas potentially receiving over 20 cm of rain.

Wind Speed: Gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 80 kmph are anticipated along the coast on Saturday and Sunday.

Advisory: Fishermen are strictly advised not to venture into the sea. Farmers are urged to secure their harvests and complete essential agricultural work immediately.

Origin of Name: The name 'Ditva' was suggested by Yemen, and it refers to the name of a lake in the country.
