2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season Animation

The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season was an extreme active season with 18 named storms, 11 hurricane and 5 major hurricanes. Some notable hurricanes are: Hurricane Beryl, which reached category 5 in the first days of July. It didn't happen since Hurricane Emily (2005). Hurricane Helene, a destructive hurricane that caused a high number of fatalities ever recorded in the USA and since Hurricane Maria (2017), within 234 fatalities. Also, Helene was the costliest storm of the season and the third-costliest storm on record within $120bln in damages. Note: this is an unofficial estimate, the number of damages may rise up in the future. Hurricane Milton: the strongest storm of the season and the second-most intense hurricane ever with a pressure of 897mbar, no one hurricane reached this minimum pressurebsince Hurricane Rita (2005). Even Milton caused a lot of damages, especially in Florida, causing in total $85bln in damages. Other notable hurricanes are: Hurricane Francine, which made landfall in Louisiana and hit New Orleans as a hurricane. Hurricane Kirk, as an extratropical storm, it reached Europe and caused significant damage on the western side of Europe. Hurricane Rafael, made a category 3 landfall with winds of 115mph (185kph) and peaking as a category 3 in the Gulf of Mexico since Hurricane Kate (1985).
