At the farthest corner of the shelter, where the barking of dogs is rarely heard, lives Betty. Betty is a calm, modest, and unobtrusive dog. In the eight years she's been with us, she has never been involved in a single fight or incident. She quietly lives her life at the shelter, minding her own business and surviving day by day. Because of her wisdom in avoiding problems, Betty has not experienced the traumas that could leave a mark on her and destroy her self-confidence. If you call her, she will cheerfully come to you and stay until she feels her petting time is up, knowing that time in the shelter is limited to a hug, a few kind words, and a cookie.

Her fate resembles that of calm, smart, and modest children whose parents often take them for granted, giving all their attention to a mischievous, demanding, and loud sibling.
