What the fur?!
San Francisco is now the first MAJOR U.S. city to ban the sale of all things fur. This means no clothing, souvenirs, accessories, blah blah blah, both in stores AND online. That means fur items that you buy on the world wide web can’t even be delivered to a San Fran address. On Tuesday, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the measure. Retailers will have until 2020 to sell off any remaining fur inventory. A representative on the Board of Supervisors told the San Francisco Chronicle, “It is estimated that around the world some 50 million animals are slaughtered in gruesome ways so that we can wear their fur and look fashionable…My hope is that it will send a strong message to the rest of the world.” This new ban WON’T apply to secondhand stores or charities.
