After years of seeing these giant underwater monsters moving beneath my kayak, I decided to get out and try and shoot a few with my bow. Grass carp were introduced to many lakes as a way to combat the hydrilla problem in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, not only did the grass carp completely eliminate the hydrilla from lakes, but they also completely decimated any native foliage the largemouth bass and other native species need. While they're not quite as problematic as the big-head carp found in the Mississippi and Great Lakes, they still pose a major threat to bass populations. Because of this, Texas Parks and Wildlife has declared them to be fair game for bow fishing! I hope y'all enjoy the video.
