About This Game -
Wolfenstein: The New Order is an upcoming first-person shooter video game in development by MachineGames to be published by Bethesda Softworks for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The New Order is the ninth installment in the Wolfenstein series and the first since 1992 developed without the Id Software label; however, developer MachineGames will utilize id Software's proprietary game engine id Tech 5. Wolfenstein: The New Order will be single-player-only. The game follows a standard first-person shooter formula with the player taking on enemies over the course of a level. The New Order utilizes a health system in which the player's health is divided into separate sections that regenerate; if an entire section is lost, the player must use a health pack to replenish the missing health, in a similar fashion to games such as The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and Resistance: Fall of Man. The player also has access to a non-limited weapon inventory, dual wielding certain weapons, as well as the ability to lean around, over and under cover, and perform a combat slide. Certain weapons also have special abilities such as a laser cannon which transforms into a cutting tool, and some turrets can be pulled from their stationary position and carried around. Semi-destructible environments have also been confirmed. The game takes place during 1960 in a world in which the Nazis won the Second World War. The player assumes the role of series protagonist William "B.J." Blazkowicz, voiced by Brian Bloom, who is tasked with launching an "impossible" counter-offensive against the Nazi powers that have taken over the world. Set in Europe, The New Order will have players infiltrating Nazi strongholds and battling legions of enemies, while taking control of "super weapons" that the Third Reich has used to dominate Earth. Three years after the events of Wolfenstein, the Nazis have somehow developed advanced technologies that enable them to turn the tide against the Allies. Famed OSA agent B.J. Blazkowicz, accompanied by Royal Air Force pilot Fergus Reid and US Army Private Probst Wyatt, takes part in a massive Allied raid against a fortress and weapons laboratory held by his old nemesis, Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse. The three are captured and brought to a human experimentation laboratory where Deathshead forces Blazkowicz to choose whether to gruesomely kill Fergus or Wyatt before leaving Blazkowicz and the survivor to die in the laboratory's emergency incinerator.

Blazkowicz and the survivor plug the gas mains to buy themselves time to jump out of the laboratory's only window, but the built-up pressure causes the laboratory to explode violently, and Blazkowicz suffers a critical head injury from shrapnel before falling into the ocean.

He is discovered by fishermen and brought to an asylum in Poland where he remains in a vegetative state. He is cared for by nurse Anya Oliwa and her family, who run the asylum. Aware of his surroundings, he is forced to watch as Nazi authorities frequently force her family to hand over disabled patients. Fourteen years later, the Nazis order the asylum shut down, killing all the patients and executing Anya's family when they try to resist. B.J. witnesses all of this and awakens from his vegetative state, rescuing Anya and escaping the asylum. He finds and joins an armed resistance movement led by Caroline Becker, who survived the events at Isenstadt. In 2011, during the promotions for Rage, Bethesda stated that Rage's engine would be used for Doom and the future installment to the Wolfenstein series.[citation needed] The New Order was announced with a teaser trailer in May 2013, featuring the song "All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix. A gameplay demo was presented at E3 2013.

In Germany, an alternate version of the game will be released in which there are no references to national-socialist ideology or the Nazi regime (which is simply called The Regime). Moreover, all swastikas will be replaced by the Wolfenstein logo and wolves heads, and Nazi ranks replaced by triangles and numbers.

A new trailer was released on April 8, 2014, showing more content and gameplay of the game. It was featured with the song "Nowhere to Run" by Martha and the Vandellas.Pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order will gain buyers access to the Doom beta. Doom (previously named Doom 4) is the latest installment in the Doom series and is being developed by id Software.

On May 2, 2014, it was announced that the Xbox 360 version will contain four discs for installation, while the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will only contain one.
