Zara Chapter No. 8 Rose Collection Perfume Review

Here are my thoughts on the Zara Rose Perfume Collection – Chapter 8


Rose Temeraire

Rose Temp – AIR – RAY

Rose Temeraire to me is a thick fruity floral. It opens with a sweet cherry and plum, but lacks the cough syrup vibe, thankfully. I also detect a grape-like element. This is a beautiful fruity rose perfume that kinda reminds me of Victoria’s Secret Love Spell mixed with Pure Seduction! If you like that, you will love this.

Rose Temeraire is a typical Zara perfume and similar to Delina Exclusif. I have smelled this sweet, rose many, many, many times with Zara. Here’s how Rose Temeraire’s compares with other perfumes in my collection:

Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl has a more youthful, candied vibe and is more powdery than Rose Temeraire
The Fenty perfume has patchouli, which makes it deeper, more mature, and way sexier than Rose Temeraire
Zara Love Explosion has less rose and leans more gourmand than Rose Temeraire
Zara’s Thursday No Valentines but Flowers is more tart and floral with less fruit than Rose Temeraire
Zara Jo Malone Fashionably London has a sharp citrus opening and is much more musky than Rose Temeraire
True Amore is stronger, sweeter and more green than Rose Temeraire

Longevity is great! This lasted about seven hours on my skin and three days on my clothes.
Rose Temeraire gets an 8 out of 10


I would describe Mystic Rose as a dark resinous rose. Imagine spending all day chopping wood and planting flowers near a rose garden on a hot summer day. And then it rains. The rose is very heavy, woody, and ambery in Mystic Rose. The blueberry note here is very thick and I don’t detect cranberry at all. But I do get a spicy ambery woodiness and definitely patchouli.

Mystic Rose is not for the soft hearted. This is mysterious, vampy, and a little bit sinister. Mystic Rose would be the signature fragrance for Clarissa, the crystal ball witch from one of my favorite Goosebumps books, Be Careful What You Wish for. Absolutely NOT blind buy safe.

Zara Hipster Oud is way sweeter and oud compared to Mystic Rose
Swiss Arabian Shagaf Oud is more nuclear with the actual oud note and also more spicy

Surprisingly, this doesn’t last long. I got four hours. I rate Mystic Rose a 6 out of 10


C’est La Rose is the most traditional rose in this collection. I would describe this as a fresh pepper woody rose. At the first spray, you get a spicy blast of pink pepper, which I absolutely loved. The rose stays soft throughout. It’s a bit generic, but well balanced. It dries down woody and slightly smoky. C’est La Rose is a very simple perfume, work friendly for sure. But not necessarily blind buy safe because the dry down is very woody.

Bare Rose from Victoria’s Secret also has woody vibe, but is musky and more fruity.

C’est La Rose lasted about four hours on me. I rate this an 8 out of 10.


Rose Sincere to me is a fizzy tropical rose with a hint of freshness. I got a burst of rose and lychee at the first spray, and then it settles into a fruity floral. There is a champagne, bubbly quality that leans kinda aldehydic. And I know this is random, but I detect a bit of mango! Like C’est La Rose, Rose Sincere is a very simple perfume, probably something I would expect more as a body mist. This is the safest blind buy from this collection; a safe blind buy in general. This doesn’t really dry down; it just sorta disappears, so I don’t really get the praline note.

Nest Lychee Rose is sweeter and fruitier.
Mayar by Lattafa is more fruity and less rose

Rose Sincere lasts maybe three hours on me. I rate this a 5 out of 10.

My ranking from most to least favorite:
1st Place - C’est La Rose – it’s such an easy everyday rose
2nd Place - Rose Temeraire – this is not unique, but it performs so well
3rd Place - Mystic Rose – it’s a statement perfume, but only for special occasions
4th Place – Rose Sincere – I have body mists that last longer than this
