This is a video of Greater Glasgow Police Pipe Band, under Pipe Major Duncan Nicholson, playing in the Grade One March, Strathspey and Reel competition at the European Pipe Band Championships held in Grant Park, Forres on 27 June 2015. The band played the following set:

March: Donald Cameron [Hugh MacKay (1801 - 1864)]
Strathspey: Blair Drummond (traditional)
Reel: The Smith of Chillichassie [traditional]

This is only the second recording of the march Donald Cameron on this channel. Donald Cameron may be of interest to locals. He was born in Contin into a farming family and became an outstanding piper from an early age. His younger brother, Sandy, was also a piper of repute. Donald married Margaret Mackenzie in 1841 and all three of their sons became pipers. From 1849 Donald was piper to Keith Stewart-Mackenzie of Seaforth at Brahan Castle. He died in Maryburgh and is buried at the Old High Kirk in Inverness. The well known strathspey, Maggie Cameron, was named after Donald's wife and the reel Sandy Cameron was named after his brother.
