Inogen At Home Setup - Using a Humidifier

If you use an Inogen At Home and a humidifier is deemed medically necessary by your health care team, you’ll be happy to learn that the Inogen At Home Oxygen Concentrator is designed to be used with one. This tutorial will illustrate how easy it is to add a humidifier to your Inogen At Home oxygen delivery system.

Setting up a humidifier with your Inogen At Home is easy. You don't need any special tools or expertise. As long as you have your oxygen concentrator unit, your tubing and your humidifier bottle, you’re ready to go. Just follow these steps, also demonstrated in the video, to ensure that you’ve set up your Inogen At Home humidifier correctly:

1. Start by removing the cap from the humidifier bottle.
2. Fill the bottle with distilled water to the level indicated by the manufacturer.
3. Replace the cap on the humidifier bottle and tighten it securely.
4. Place the fully assembled humidifier, with the adapter, into the elastic holder and set in place.
5. Attach the oxygen tubing to the humidifier bottle adapter by turning the wingnut on the bottle counterclockwise until you see that the oxygen tubing is securely fastened.
6. Attach the oxygen tubing from the humidifier bottle to the oxygen outlet connector on the Inogen At Home Oxygen Concentrator.
7. Attach the nasal cannula supply tubing to the humidifier bottle outlet.
8. Finally, adjust your nasal cannula so that it fits your face properly and comfortably.

Now, your Inogen At Home with humidifier is all set up! From there, turn your oxygen concentrator on by ensuring the unit is plugged into an outlet and pressing the power button. You can now breathe normally through your nasal cannula, and you’ll get the humidified supplemental oxygen you need.
