Tennis For Beginners Teaching Method (Forehands & Backhands)

Описание к видео Tennis For Beginners Teaching Method (Forehands & Backhands)

The teaching method for tennis beginners is different to what you usually see online or even on tennis courts. We don't start with the unit turn but we teach tennis beginners to start the forehand or the backhand from contact point and complete the stroke. http://www.beginnertennis.net/

So basically we are teaching them the second half of the stroke first and then we work on the stroke in a backwards manner.

This is very important for adult tennis beginners as they may find learning the whole stroke from the unit turn and connecting it to the ball too complex to memorize at first and that causes many late shots.

The teaching method for beginners shown here is not my own, I learned it twice:
- first time following the ITF (International Tennis Federation) teaching system I learned in Slovenia - https://www.itftennis.com/en/
- the second time completing the US PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Standard Method teaching certification - https://www.ptrtennis.org/

And since I always see coaches teaching a tennis stroke from the unit turn first I thought I would share the method that is universally taught and which we use for tennis beginners.

We can also use this tennis teaching system when players have problems around the contact area and they don't really feel or know how their racket is oriented in space and that makes their shots very unreliable.

As we work slowly from the contact point backwards they can become much more aware of their racket orientation in space.

We also also use this method for shortening too big backswings especially if we place the player next to the net as shown in the video above.
