AL Al Arabiya covers the premiere of the play “LOVE AND WAR ON THE ROOFTOPS – A TRIPOLITAN TALE”.
This video includes interviews with the co-founder of MARCH Lea Baroudi , the renowned actor Michel Abou Sleiman and young actors that took part of this project. “LOVE AND WAR ON THE ROOFTOPS – A TRIPOLITAN TALE” is part of a conflict resolution project embarked by MARCH, to gather Tripoli’s youth from opposite sides of the front lines around art and culture. Lea explains the context and why the reasons behind MARCH’s decision to embark in this adventure: Aside Tripoli residents, nobody really knows what is happening in reality in Tripoli. There is a lot of prejudices and misconceptions, which MARCH decided to challenge by initiating the project. “When we first started, we didn’t really know what to expect. We kept hearing that we were wasting our time, but we were adamant and convinced that the situation and reality had no ideological grounds” But throughout the project, the youth’s interaction with each other and their capacity to invest in the play have undergone dramatic transformations. Friendships were created along the way, as a result of mutually sharing their life stories, and excitement and commitment to the project itself gradually increased as well.
