About the Real Event
On the night of June 9-10, 1912, in the small town of Villisca, Iowa, eight people were murdered in the Moore family home. The victims included Josiah and Sarah Moore, their four children (Herman, Katherine, Boyd, and Paul), and two young overnight guests (Lena and Ina Stillinger). All were killed with an axe while they slept. The killer covered all the mirrors and windows with clothing, spent time in the house after the murders, and left behind bizarre clues including a slab of bacon and a kerosene lamp. Despite extensive investigation and multiple suspects, including a traveling preacher, the case was never solved. The house still stands today and is considered one of America's most haunted locations.
