Presentation at the University of Guelph Knowledge Transfer Soil Carbon Field Day in Burlington Ontario at Mable May Farms. The presentation overviewed the 30 year development efforts of REAP-Canada to domesticate upland switchgrass from a wild species to an easy to grow and productive field crop. It overviews breeding approaches and current seed upscaling efforts by licensed seed growers. The new cultivars are well suited to agri-food, bioeconomy, wildlife habitat and conservation applications.
