In this episode I start my lawn rehab. I found a lawn full of most of the weeds on the tenacity herbicide label. We talk about what is tenacity herbicide and when it's best to use it.

Here's my plan of action to fix an ugly lawn

1. Lawn aeration
- I pass the lawn aeration machine 2 to 3 times over all areas of the lawn.

2. I used a starter fertilizer by ProPeat. You can use any starter fertilizer that is an 11.11.11 slow release fertilizer. I applied the fertilizer at 3lbs of N per 1000ft2

3. Lawn overseed. I like to use barenbrugs Kentucky Bluegrass and Rhizomatous tall fescue. In this episode I use 5lbs of grass seed per 1000ft2.

4. Calibrate your backpack sprayer. Understanding calibration is essential to a successful application. I calibrated my backpack and pace at 162oz of liquid over 1000ft2.

5. Use tenacity herbicide. This will help your Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue, st Augustine, and centipede grass grow without having to compete for space with existing weeds.

6. Wait 12 hours no water so the tenacity can act as a post emergent. Then water it in with .5" of water or more.

7. water the lawn daily 2 to 3 times per day for 5 minutes or more per station to keep the seed wet.

The germination process for Kentucky Bluegrass can take between 2 and 5 weeks. It's important to keep the soil wet.
