How to Install a Brush Hog Shear Pin

Описание к видео How to Install a Brush Hog Shear Pin

Most PTO-powered implements have some sort of protection system in place to prevent damage to either the attachment, or the tractor, if you hit a fixed object. The two most common types of protection are slip clutches and shear bolts. In this video I show how to replace a shear pin in a rotary cutter. Never, ever do this with the tractor running.

A shear bolt is just what it sounds like...a low grade bolt designed to break when an immovable object is encountered by the bush hog blades in the field. When you hear a crash and the blades stop turning, you've sheared a shear bolt. If you have a reserve in the toolbox, you can pop one in and go back to cutting...just don't drive over whatever you hit again.

Not all shear bolts systems are the same, this one is one of the easier-to-change designs. Many times the bolt will go through the shaft and those can be a little hard to get to. Regardless of the design, they all work on the same principal.
