The use of medication in alcohol deaddiction is based on the level of addiction. The addiction can happen because of the abuse of the substance or dependency of the substance. When there is a dependency there is a possibility of excessive craving, excessive withdrawal symptoms and post the use of substance there could be depression and because of the continuous use of substance there could be malnutrition or nutrition deficiencies. So drugs are used to reduce craving and also to reduce withdrawal symptoms which can be one of the main factor which makes the person take the substance again. There are lot of substances which can be used to reduce the nutritional deficiencies and medicines are also used to reduce the depression and other mental illness which can be caused because of the use of the substance.
