This card is adapted from 'Drawing Form and Pose' by Tom Fox.

This card was all about drawing the mask shape that often gets used as a learning aid.

Interestingly Fox actually kind of advises against until you understand the actual forms of the bone underneath it.

I only partially know them, and I do find that when trying to draw the mask shape, it is hard to understand how it maps to the contours of the face with limited knowledge.

I did find it a lot easier to make it look more cartoony, maybe a squarer facial profile with more shapes and less care about anatomy.

I also found that the mask shake could be changed to make it feel different. It follows the eyebrows along the top and so the shape it takes can depend on that.

I want to use this card as a bit of a bench mark to test my knowledge of this shape as my understanding improves.

Everything here is from imagination but checking notes as I go.

This took 30 minutes, using a fineliner pen, but I spent 1 hour practising.
