Camels are extraordinary animals, perfectly adapted to survive in harsh desert environments. There are two main types: the dromedary camel, which has one hump, and the Bactrian camel, which has two. Contrary to popular belief, their humps don't store water—instead, they hold fat reserves that can be converted into energy when food is scarce.

Camels have several unique features: long legs for walking on hot sand, thick eyelashes and closable nostrils to protect against sandstorms, and the ability to drink up to 100 liters of water in one go. After hydrating, they can go for days or even weeks without needing to drink again.

Beyond transportation in desert regions, camels also provide milk, meat, and wool. In many Middle Eastern and North African cultures, camels are highly valued not just economically, but spiritually too.
