In the past, courses such as this have been called "Defensive" driving courses. More recently, they have appeared as "Pro-active" driving courses. The purpose of this change in terminology is a hope that drivers will not only defend themselves against collisions, but be pro-active in avoiding dangerous situations and protecting all road users. This course has been designed to help you meet all regulatory and government requirements including the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

List the items on a vehicle that should be inspected before it is driven
List the most common driver distractions
Describe how to avoid becoming distracted while driving
List the causes and effects of fatigue
Describe methods in which you can become a pro-active driver
List some items that should be included in an emergency kit
Explain how to check and regulate the fluid levels in a vehicle
Explain why it is important to keep your emotions in check while driving
Explain why using a cell phone while driving is dangerous
Define "impaired driving" and describe the penalties for being charged with impaired driving
List the important points of interacting with other road users

You will need approximately 1 hour to complete this course.
